The Nine Club was more in favor of your work during an episode in 2019. They all

contests. They say your non-tradional way of doing all this yourself is now
becoming the new norm. Your board sponsor does not even have a Youtube page.

What is your view on this?
I’ve been watching a lot of Nine Club episodes and it was an honor to be menoned
in there. It also came as a huge surprise cause the major „core Skate media“ tries to
stay away from the topic youtube skater. I think the Nine club has a secular and

balanced view of skateboarding. It was a big surprise for me to be in there. And yes
more and more pros start to have a YouTube channel. It’s funny to see like Jaws or
Aurelien do have one. But I don’t think it’s gonna be enrely the new norm, it’s
definitely shiing to say like maybe 50% percent tradional, 50% Youtube. Both sides

 have their pros and cons.

I think most people have a hard me adopng to change. I remember Stacey
Peralta’s interview around Bones Brigade where he said that at the peak of his
success he wanted all his pro riders to manage their own brand but linked to Powell

Peralta. Unfortunately for him his business partner Powell was against it but it
proves his amazing vision for skateboarding at the me. Not a queson for you
Jonny. Just my personal thoughts to this topic.

 Agreed.

Back to you. The tradional way is also appearing in skatemags and as menoned
riding in contests. Have you done any of this? Soerfi

I’ve had coverage in one or two smaller mags, I think I also never done an interview

like this. Back in the days I used to skate smaller local contest where I would usually
rank in the top three. Winning Skateboard hardware was crucial to me because that
way I could actually afford skateboarding. I went to a world championship

qualificaon in Brasil 2019. I ended up in 62 of 67 If I remember right. I guess the
judges didn’t like my casperstalls, bonelesses and flamingos hahaha that was an
interesng experience. These days I skate contests just for fun and do some goofy
tricks that no one can take really serious.
